Goblins Gonna Git Ya!!
The earliest Halloween I can remember was at the age of 5. It was my kindergarten year and my mother made my gypsy costume and draped me in long necklaces and bracelets galore! In those days, most people made their costumes from whatever was on hand at the time although the store bought masks and costumes were beginning to become pretty popular.
I was so excited because the school was hosting a huge outdoor Halloween party on the school grounds on Halloween afternoon, and each of the grades got to have their own little parade. There were treats for everyone and games to play. After the party was over everyone went to their respective school buses to be taken home and to anxiously await sundown so that the night's trick or treating could begin!
I got very lost in the crowds and missed my bus ride home. Being a rather intrepid child, I started walking home. I don't recall why but I decided to take what I thought would be a shortcut through several fields on the way home. It turned out not to be such a great shortcut because the fields were rutted with rows and stalks of mowed-down hay and corn. I kept tripping in my long skirts, and getting caught on the stalk stumps! Added to this was a sun getting lower and lower in the sky, casting long dark shadows and bringing creepy feelings. I walked faster and faster, constantly looking over my shoulder for that scarecrow or goblin that I was sure was going to reach out and grab me.
I came home to a frantic mother who was about ready to call the police. After all, I was only 5 years old. After explaining my adventure to my mother, my biggest concern was that she would be upset with me and would not let me go trick or treating that night. I did get to go that night, in all my gypsy splendor, had a great time and brought home a sack full of candy!

To Control a Doodle...
Not really. There actually isn't any way to control a Doodle. They just happen. Whenever and wherever they like. Usually all over the place. In example:
If I'm not indulging in Doodling, I'm Scribbling. Just as important, by the way. One cannot control the Scribble, either, but that is a tale for another day. 'Tis a strange world I live in. But someone needs to keep an eye (or two) on it and I figure it might as well be me. Since I'm already here and all.
I stumbled upon this most excellent group of artists...Halloween Artist Bazaar. Not only is everyone here talented and unique, they are wonderfully accepting. Could be they're all weirdos, as well. Nice.
Please check out the work of these amazing artists http://www.halloweenartistbazaar.com/
My Brain on Doodles |
My Brain Not on Doodles |
Eeeek. This is supposed to be where I keep track of bills and other ordinary what-nots. |
Sometimes the Doodle turns out like this and they are titled "Apple Sauce." |
And sometimes the Doodle turns out like this and they have no title at all. |

The Love of Halloween
It is such a simple memory one most likely repeated by many of you reading this, my first blog entry anywhere ever, right now. We were a mob of girls, all best friends from elementary school in Los Angeles, California. This was many years ago and we wore bobby socks and hard shoes along with our Halloween costumes of Hobo's, clowns, and princesses. A couple of parents came along, trailing behind. Mid-block was an old Victorian house with a large front porch and large picture windows. The lights were on, bright and inviting. Our group took up most of that porch, our bags were ready and open, one of us rang the door bell. Slowly the door opened and to our surprise and ultimate horror a brightly back lit gorilla appeared with a snarl and a growl. We, silly little girls, screamed, turned and as one made a mad dash off of that large porch. None dared look or turn back. To this day I have never heard a gorilla laugh so hard.
From that moment on, oh, how I loved Halloween.

Salutations
and welcome to the blog of
Halloween Artist Bazaar!
Who is
Halloween Artist Bazaar?
We are Autumn people. The folk of Halloween,
artists who create in the vein of Halloween, fantasy, Samhain, the macabre and
fairy tales are what we are.
We come
from the October country of fallen leaves, abandoned graveyards and dark wooded
paths. We keep the company of black cats, witches in pointed hats and monsters
from under the bed. We consort with apparitions.
Dance with pumpkin men and enjoy conversations with owls. We give them life
through our hands into our works, whether from a painted brush or beaded string
we keep alive the spirit of Halloween.
Halloween Artist Bazaar is more than
an artist group. It is an idea. It's the principal that the tradition of
Halloween is passed on to the generations through the expression of art and
imagery. It is the notion that handmade original art and its makers be
celebrated.
Here you
will find what’s new on the Halloween Artist Bazaar catalog, what our members are working on and all things from the realm of Halloween. We hope you will enjoy what you find as we keep a
Jack `o lantern lit in the name of
Halloween.
